STEM

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. According to the U.S. Department of Education, “It's more important than ever that our nation's youth are prepared to bring knowledge and skills to solve problems, make sense of information, and know how to gather and evaluate evidence to make decisions.”

West Wendover Elementary STEM students will learn to do just that. It’s no secret that we believe learners today become leaders tomorrow. With our STEM program, our Scorpions will be well on their way to success in these areas and more

Why STEM?

We’re often asked about the reason for adding STEM activities in addition to the curriculum we already provide in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The answer is simple: our students love it! While a math test might be daunting, a math game is challenging and fun. While memorizing science facts might seem overwhelming at times, a science fair is something our students look forward to.

STEM Activities

Our students get to participate in STEM-related activities all year long. The following are some of the hands-on things they will do include:

Annual STEM Fair

Building with LEGOs

Coding

Math Puzzles

Science Labs

And more!
