The Elko County School District Adult High School offers the Adult High School Diploma and Certificate of High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation programs under Nevada state statutes at no cost.

Any person aged eighteen or older not enrolled in a high school or who has not graduated from high school is eligible to earn a diploma or high school equivalency certificate.

In the absence of a high school diploma, we use the High School Equivalency (HSE) test as a measure of an individual's basic competencies in English (writing and literature), social studies, science, and mathematics. Individuals who desire to pursue a Nevada State Certificate of High School Equivalency must meet the following requirements:

1. Eighteen years of age or older

2. Officially withdrawn from school

3. Registration

4. Attend mandatory orientation followed by three days of pre-testing.

5. HSE official testing fee of $78.75

6. Proof of identity (i.e. current driver's license, DMV identification card, military ID, tribal ID, and/or passport).

Anyone ages sixteen to seventeen may prepare and test under certain conditions:

Sixteen to Seventeen-Year-Old Applicants:

1. Must contact the school district to obtain and complete the HSE/Adult Education Permission to Prepare Application.

2. Submit the HSE/Adult Education Permission to Prepare Application to the ECSD central office for approval from the School Board of Trustees, followed by the withdrawal from the current high school.

3. Must have proof of identity (i.e. current driver's license, DMV identification card, military ID, tribal ID, and/or passport).

4. Must attend a mandatory orientation and HSE pre-testing, followed by required attendance of two days per week for two hours per day.

5. HSE official testing fee of $78.75

Students may register at any time during the school district's academic year.

An adult high school diploma requires 20.5 credits in the following subjects:
