Starting next year, meals will no longer be provided free of charge to all students across our district. This change primarily affects schools not qualifying for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which offers free meals to students in low-income areas.
If your child attends any of the following schools, they will be charged for meals starting next year: Liberty Peak Elementary, Mountain View Elementary, Spring Creek Elementary, Sage Elementary, Flag View Intermediate School, Carlin Combined, Wells Combined, Jackpot Combined, Adobe Middle School, Spring Creek Middle School, Spring Creek High School, and Elko High School.
To prepare for this change, please consider filling out a Free and Reduced Meal Application if you believe you qualify based on household income. The application can be filled out online at ECSDNV.net. An approved application guarantees free meals for the first 30 days of the 2024-2025 school year. This allows processing time, as 24-25 school year applications will be distributed during the first week of school. Parents will need to reapply for continued benefits after this initial period.
Additional schools may become eligible for the CEP program, potentially changing the list of affected schools. However, applying now ensures you'll benefit from free meals for the initial 30 days, regardless of future adjustments.
